Realty
developer Lodha Group recently made news for selling a super luxury
duplex apartment in Mumbai for Rs 160 crores. The 10,000 square feet
apartment was priced at Rs 1.60 lakhs per sq. feet, making it the
highest per square feet cost. The flat was bought by the Jindal family,
which runs Jindal Drugs.
According
to the Credit Suisse Global Wealth report, there are a total of 2,080
ultra high net worth individuals in India having wealth of over USD 50
million. With such numbers, it is no wonder that the country is home to
some exorbitantly priced homes that cost upwards of Rs 100 crores.
Here we take a look at some of the most expensive homes in the country:

Antilia: Named
after a mythical island in the Atlantic Ocean, Antilia is undoubtedly
the world’s most expensive private residential property. The Mukesh
Ambani residence costs close to a mind boggling Rs 10,000 crores and
covers an area of 48,000 sq feet. The residence redefines uber luxury,
with its 27 floors with extra high ceilings, a multi-storey garage, a
ballroom, spa, a helipad, and every other luxury that you can dream of.

Anil Ambani’s Abode: Giving
competition to his elder brother is Anil Ambani with his ultra
expensive home, Abode, which is still under construction. While initial
plans were to build a 150 metres high tower, built over 16,000 square
feet, the height had to be cut down to 66 metres post complaints from
neighbours at the posh Pali Hill locality where it is being constructed.
The house is reportedly worth Rs 5,000 crores.

Mannat: The
king of Bollywood deserves nothing less than a palace for himself. Shah
Rukh Khan owns one of the most expensive celebrity homes in the
country, Mannat, designed like the white house and valued at close to Rs
150 crores. The house has six floors, is spread across 26,000 sq feet
and is known for its exquisite décor, pieces of art and installations,
furniture and curios.

White House in the Sky: Imagine
living in a White House set on a one acre land, high above the ground.
That is Vijay Mallya’s house for you – much like everything else he
stands for – sheer extravagance. This ambitious, luxurious house sits on
the 33rd and 34th floors of the UB City’s
Kingfisher Towers in Bengaluru, and houses a wine cellar, indoor pool,
salon, a helipad, and a range of other luxuries. The building is also
home to other super expensive homes and has 82 apartments, 10 for
Mallya’s family, and the rest for sale. The home is valued at around Rs
125 crores.

J.K House: Belonging
to the Singhania family, the J.K House rivals Ambani’s Antilia in its
grandeur. Standing at a height of 145 metres, with 37 floors, the
residence is touted to be the second tallest private residence in the
country, after Antilia, and is located near the Ambani residence. Along
with the living quarters, once completed, the building will also house a
museum, multi storey parking, a helipad, a health centre and a range of
other facilities.

Ratan Tata’s Cabins: Much
like the man himself, Ratan Tata’s home, called Cabins, shies away from
opulence, but stands out in its sophisticated architecture and design.
The house, which Tata retired to in December 2012, is spread across
13,500 sq. ft, consisting of three storeys, divided into seven levels,
and offering a panoramic view of the sea. Apart from its living
quarters, the house boasts of a party sun deck which can host 50 people,
with a built in barbeque and bar. The elegant residence is valued at Rs
125-150 crores.

Ruia residence: Brothers
Shashi Ruia, the Chairman of Essar group and Ravi Ruia, the Vice
Chairman, own a luxurious bungalow in Delhi’s posh Tees January Marg.
Set on a 2.26 acre, the property has a signature colonial garden and
swimming pool. While the Ruias also own property in Mumbai and London,
this sprawling house is definitely the most expensive one, valued at Rs
120 crores.

Rana Kapoor residence: The
CEO of Yes Bank is also the proud owner of a super expensive house at
Mumbai’s elite Altamont Road. The residential building, situated next to
Ambani’s Antilla, has six apartments in total, where the banker family
own five, and the sixth is owned by the British healthcare company,
GlaxoSmithKline. The building is valued at upwards of Rs 125 crores.

Maheshwari House: Located
on Napeansea Road, the Maheshwari House, bought by Steel baron Sajjan
Jindal at a whopping Rs 400 crores in 2011, is one of the most expensive
homes in the country. The old house will be redeveloped into a sea
facing mansion and a luxury residential tower exclusively built for the
Jindals.
